A house fire broke out in the Midwood area of Brooklyn last week. All of the humans in the house were able to get out unscathed, but there was a little Yorkshire Terrier inside who couldn't escape. Luckily female firefighter Daina Mielnik of Engine Co. 276 was there in time to help! She successfully got the dog out of the house. The dog required CPR and Oxygen. Mielnik told the New York Post "I gave the dog oxygen. It's my first animal rescue. It made me feel great. I love animals. Everyone hates to see an animal in pain." The Yorkie was brought to Noah's Ark Animal Clinic where he underwent treatment. At the time they brought him in he was unconscious, but now he is responsive. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a full recovery!! Daina (26 years of age) was happy to save the little dog, but also took advantage of the media coverage to let everyone know that she is single!!
